'Setting Sail' Ocean Painting by Mandy Gatlin

This painting of the ocean had been nagging at me for quite some time.
I still have strong urges to paint the ocean, waves, sunsets, and sunrises.
Much of my life was filled with visits to the beach, and I got to spend a lot of time on boats.
My body always feels so relaxed at the beach, and there's nothing better than
watching the sun slowly slip away past the horizon.
I love the colors in this ocean painting. The blues and greens
with the oranges and yellows of the sky make for a serene scene.
You can watch the video of me painting 'Setting Sail.' Notice how the sky changed as
I played with many different possibilities with the clouds and finally felt happiest
with the rusty oranges and yellows.
